Department Information:

The Dillsboro Police Department is a full-service police department serving a community comprised of approximately 1500 residents.

The police department has a staff of 3 paid officers and 3 Reserve Officers whose missions are to protect the community and provide a myriad of other police services. The Town of Dillsboro enjoys a low crime rate as a result of the police department's '' strong emphasis on crime deterrence through visible patrols including a bicycle patrol at special events, as well as the routine motorized mobile patrol.

The dedicated professionals of the Dillsboro Police Department work closely with all area police departments in cooperative crime prevention and joint training exercises to ensure consistent, well-coordinated police service throughout the Dillsboro and Dearborn County Area. We also work closely with other emergency services in the community such as the Dillsboro Fire Department and the Dillsboro Emergency Unit.  The high standards attained by the Dillsboro Police Department are a major contributing factor in the excellent quality of life enjoyed by the citizens of Dillsboro.

The Town of Dillsboro enjoys a low crime rate as a result of the police department strong emphasis on crime deterrence through visible patrols including a bicycle patrol at special events, as well as the routine vehicle patrol.  We will be relentless in our efforts to identify and arrest criminals, reduce and prevent crime, disorder and fear.

The dedicated professionals of the Dillsboro Police Department work closely with all area police departments in cooperative crime prevention and joint training exercises to ensure consistent, well-coordinated police service throughout the Dillsboro and Dearborn County Area. The Dillsboro Police Department has strong connections between the Department and the citizens we serve. We enjoy interactions with the community through CASA (Citizens against Substance Abuse), the Fraternal Order of Police Shop with a Cop program, and give presentations at our local School on various topics.

The Town of Dillsboro and the Dillsboro Police Department are proud to announce the promotion of Patrolman John M. Hegge to the rank of Sergeant. John is a very hardworking and dedicated member of the department always showing professionalism and courtesy while exemplifying the missions and values of the Dillsboro Police Department. Please take a moment to congratulate Sgt. Hegge on his well deserved promotion.

Also Sgt. Hegge was also awarded the Excellence in Law Enforcement Award by the Dearborn/Ohio County Prosecutor's Office. Again, Congratulations on a well deserved award!
