Ryan Brandt

Chief

Serving Since 1999

Ryan W Brandt has lived in the Aurora/Dillsboro area all his life; he is a 1996 graduate of South Dearborn High School. In 1997 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as an Infantryman and moved on to take a position in the reserves as company armorer in the 3rd Battalion/25 Marines in Columbus, OH. Serving until 2001 Brandt was Honorably Discharged.  Ryan first started in Law Enforcement at the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department where he was hired as a Jail Officer in 1998 and worked until 2000.   Ryan started his career as a police officer with the Town of Dillsboro in  February  1999  as a Reserve Police Officer.  In May of 2000 Ryan was hired as a paid police officer with the Town of Dillsboro, shortly after he attended and completed the Marshall’s Academy in Plainfield, IN.  Officer Brandt was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in April 2003.    Sgt. Brandt was recognized as the Law Officer of the Year by the Northcutt Laaker Post 292 American Legion in May 2003.  Sgt. Brandt’s training includes a Certificate from Northwestern University Traffic Institute on an 80hr course of Accident Investigation; he is CPR certified, a First Responder, and Radar certified.

Chief Brandt has also completed training in Officer Safety, Knock and Talk Drug Intervention, Response to the active shooter, Building searches, and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing.  Sgt. Brandt said he enjoys being a police officer, and looks forward to serving the citizens of Dillsboro in the years to come.
